“Uninvited Counsel”; sermon by Carla J. Bailey, Jan. 17

“Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will,” wrote Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” responding to moderate white clergy who urged him and his movement leaders to be patient and take a break from protesting. Carla J. Bailey preached about this letter and Dr. King’s conviction that he was doing holy work, no matter what others might advise, on the Sunday before the national holiday honoring him. Listen now.
