    Jim, I love your statement that “this is not a contest of belief”. That the point is to be engaged with the story to see what you have to say to it and what it has to say to you. Wonderful nutshell statement of why to read the Bible, of why to be a Christian, or why to read the Koran and be a Muslim, etc. Applies to any religious tradition that an individual has been raised in.
